| San Jose, June 23, 2006 – Ubiquiti Networks, a leader in outdoor wireless networking, today announced the introduction of the SuperRange4 series of hi-performance 4.9Ghz modular radios for the Public Safety networking market. The SuperRange4 and SuperRange4 Cardbus are the first hi-performance 4.9Ghz radios with FCC modular approval allowing OEM’s and carriers to quickly bring powerful Public Safety Networking products to market with minimal engineering resources and compliance testing. The SuperRange4 (SR4) mini-PCI is capable of 400mW output power, 5/10/20 MHZ transmission bandwidth options, and contains a receiver specifically optimized for sensitivity and noise immunity performance over the 4.94-4.99 GHz band. The radio supplies the additional link gain critical for Access Points to overcome range limitations at 4.9Ghz. The SuperRange4 Cardbus (SR4C) is a portable product designed for use as a client radio. The SR4C ships with a custom 5dBi laptop swivel antenna that greatly expands the functional range and overall throughput of the encompassing network. It also includes a customized Windows XP driver capable of continuously scanning the air for public safety networks and monitors frequency, data rate, and transmission bandwidth status. The SuperRange4 series are based on the Atheros AR5414 chipset and are fully compatible with the Linux MADWIFI driver. The SR4 and SR4C both carry full FCC modular approval and are now shipping in volume. |
