I'm looking for help setting up a connection between a NanoStation 2 and a Bullet 2 using Station WDS mode. (I'm completely new to this (http://ubnt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7120).)

I've got the Nano connected to a router that has an internet connection. When I put the Nano in Access Point mode I can connect to it wirelessly (SSID = UBNT) with my laptop and access the internet.

With the Nano in Station WDS the Bullet doesn't seem to "see" it.

I'm unsure how to make a Station WDS connection between the two. Can someone explain the minimum steps to connect the two in Station WDS mode, or point me to a step x step guide.

Thanks!

Can you get the radios to see each other first?

Make sure the house station on the hill can see the shop AP where the DSL is, and then flip the house station to an AP and make sure that far south location with red roof can see it.

Then you can try the house on the hill location with WDS.

So set the Nano at the shop to Access Point mode and then the Bullet on the hill should see it in the ESSID "scan" list?

When the house on the hill is in WDS mode, will there still be internet available at that location, or is it simply a relay for the southern location?

Update:

Tonight I changed the shop (point #1, DSL source) to an access point and from the house on the hill (point #2) I'm able to connect with my laptop alone.

A finicky cable and a dead Nano prevented further testing, but I'll try it with the bullet + omni antenna tomorrow.

Can you recommend a Bullet link setup at point #2 for me to test the connection?

Also, should the shop (#1) be set to Access Point or Access Point WDS?

The last leg to the southern house (point #3) will have to wait for a replacement Nano. Could take a while.

UPDATE #2:

NanoStation at the shop (#1) is connected to the internet, set to Access Point WDS (bridge/dhcp). I can connect wirelessly (w/ laptop) and access the internet.

Bullet on the hill (#2) is set to Station WDS (bridge/static) and is connecting to the NanoStation, and I can surf the internet through it when my laptop is wired to the Bullet.

I'm expecting a replacement NanoStation for the southern location (#3) tomorrow to see if I can complete the connection. I'm thinking it will also need to be in Station WDS, and that locations #2 will have internet access via ethernet cable.

DSL > router > NS2 (Access Point WDS) - - - Bullet (Station WDS) - - - NS2 (Station WDS)

Does this make sense? Am I doing it right?

Thanks for your patience.
