Ubiquiti Networks
San Jose, August 15, 2007 –Ubiquiti Networks, a leading innovator in outdoor wireless broadband solutions, today announced two new products for the licensed 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz markets. The XR2-2.3 and the XR2-2.6 are the world's first 802.11 based mini-PCI cards specifically designed for the 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz licensed bands. They are designed for long-distance, outdoor broadband wireless applications and feature high output power (600mW), extended temperature operation, built-in ESD immunity circuitry, and an innovative receiver design, which provides excellent noise immunity and sensitivity performance.
The XR2-2.3 and XR2-2.6 are compatible with the publicly available Atheros Linux MADWIFI driver and can instantly transform existing 802.11-based products into market-ready 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz solutions by simply changing out the mini-PCI radio. The XR2 leverages a variety of advanced features including scalable channel bandwidths of 5/10/20/40 MHz, compression, and 256-bit AES security. It is also a viable Wi-MAX replacement solution for OEM's and carriers as it is based on field proven reliable hardware and software solutions from Atheros Communications tested to link beyond distances of 50km and achieve TCP/IP data rates greater than 60Mbps.
The XR2-2.3 operates over the 2.3-2.5GHz frequency band and uses custom filtering and optimized RF design to achieve superior performance in these specific frequencies of operation. Similarly, the XR2-2.6 is optimized for superior performance in the 2.55-2.7GHz frequency band.
"With the increasing number of 2.4GHz outdoor wireless deployments worldwide, we are finding demand shifting towards cost-effective and powerful 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz solutions that can operate outside of the congested 2.4GHz airspace. We believe the XR2-2.3 and XR2-2.6 will allow OEM's and carriers to realize powerful and scalable solutions for these licensed frequencies while maintaining cost-effectiveness and flexibility comparable to the unlicensed 2.4GHz solutions," said Robert J. Pera, President of Ubiquiti Networks.
